Senior Fest


Each year the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office hosts the annual Senior Support Services Seminar, known as Senior Fest.

The event brings together elected officials, city representatives, vendors, and members of the senior population for an informative, fun-filled event.

During the event, attendees are treated to a catered lunch and hear from guest speakers where they can learn about ways they can protect themselves.

The event is always free and open to seniors living in Norfolk.



Senior Fest 2024 will take place on October 2 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Summer Camp 2025

Summer Camp 2025

One of Norfolk's favorite events for kids is back!


Thank you for your interest in
the 2025 Sheriff Joe Baron Summer Camp.

Registrations for both weeks are now full.

You can still place a child's name on a waitlist in case another child who's registered can't attend.

To get on a waiting list, please hover over the flyer below and
choose which week you would like to sign up for. 

In addition to registering, parents/guardians will need to fill out a waiver form.

General Information:

  • The 2025 Sheriff Joe Baron Summer Camp will run for two weeks in July 2025. Each child can attend one week but can be placed on a waitlist for the additional week. The camp will be held Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. during the weeks of July 7-11, 2025, and July 14-18, 2025.  The camp is free for residents of Norfolk between the ages of 8 to 12.  

Location:

  • The 2025 Sheriff Joe Baron Summer Camp is held at Camp Apasus located at 8420 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23505. The camp is located directly adjacent to Forest Lawn Cemetery, in the Bay View area of the city.

What to Bring: 

  • Please send your child with socks and closed toe shoes each day.
  • Please have your child bring a refillable water bottle each day.
  • Depending on the weather we will be having water play (water slide/slip-n-slide) each afternoon. Please send your child with a swimsuit and towel each day. Additionally, we will need the waiver for the water slide filled out during registration.

Food: 

  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided by Norfolk Public Schools, however your child  is welcome to bring food from home, if they would prefer.

Sunscreen/Bug Spray/Medication:

  • Sunscreen and bug spray is option, but if your child will be bringing it, please pack it in their bag. They must be able to put it on themselves.
  • If your child requires medication, please pack it in their bag.  

Electronics:

  • Electronics are not permitted. Your child may bring a phone but it must be kept in their bag.

Staff:

  • Volunteers for camp consist of Norfolk Sheriff’s Office employees, Norfolk Police officers, Norfolk Fire-Rescue personnel, students from local universities and high schools, as well as individuals affiliated with service organizations. The entire staff of volunteers will be working under the direction of the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office Community Affairs Division. All volunteers are screened by the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office and required to attend Volunteer Orientation prior to camp.

Transportation:

  • Bus transportation will be provided by the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Norfolk Public Schools. The bus routes will have limited stops, which are outlined below.

Morning/Afternoon pick-up and drop-off locations

  • Booker T. Washington High School
  • Norview High School
  • Maury High School

**More information about bus schedules and timing will be sent to parents of bus riders prior to the start of camp**

PARENT DROP OFF:

Morning Arrival: 

8:40 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 

  • Parents will enter Camp Apasus through the Granby Street camp entrance. Parents should pull up to the entrance of the camp where you will be greeted by one of our counselors. (Please do not park your car and get out.)  After drop-off, parents will exit the camp parking lot through Forest Lawn Cemetery by pulling straight ahead and turning at the second right. This will take you back out to Granby Street, directly across from Gate 22 of Naval Station Norfolk. At this point you can turn left or right onto Granby Street.  

NOTE: Leaving camp through the entrance of Camp Apasus only allows motorists to make a right turn.

Afternoon Pick Up: 

2:15 to 2:30 p.m. 

  • Please be sure to have your ID ready at pick up to speed the process along.

IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER:

  • Should there be "scattered" storms for the day - we will host summer camp.
  • Should there be storms for the whole day - camp will be cancelled.
  • We will notify the campers the day before and send out messages to parents.

The Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation Sports Camps are coming up in June.

Registration is now OPEN!

General Information:

The 2026 Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation Sports Camps will take place on four separate dates in June 2026. The Soccer Camp will be held Monday, June 15, the Basketball Camp will be held June 16, the Baseball Camp will be held on June 17, and the Football Camp will be held on June 18. The camps are free for residents of Norfolk. Participants will be provided with a camp shirt and lunch. Campers MUST be between the ages of 8 and 12.

The 2026 Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation Sports Camps will be held at different locations:

  • Soccer Camp

    9 a.m to 2 p.m.

Transportation:

Parents/guardians will be responsible for arranging transportation for their children to and from the Sports Camp locations.
