Registrations for our 2026 Youth Camps open April 13

sjbf logo nso stroked newEach summer, we host the Sheriff Joe Baron Youth Summer Camps for Norfolk youth ages 8 to 12. They consist of two one-week camp sessions held in consecutive weeks.

The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office Community Affairs Division leads the camps as a way to engage children in positive activities during the summertime and connect children with law enforcement officers. The summer camps are held at Camp Apasus off of Granby Street in Norfolk.

The summer camps include a variety of activities like painting, canoeing, archery, , fishing, water activities, and more; as well as field trips to places like the Chrylser Museum.

In 2026, the camps will be held the weeks of June 22 to 26 and June 29 to July 2.

Registration opens on April 13. The number of kids we can accept is limited, so once registration opens, you should do so quickly.

The camps are conducted in partnership with Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast, the Virginia Attorney General’s Office, Norfolk Parks and Recreation, and the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office. Norfolk Public Schools provides transportation and food for the kids.
