Norfolk Sheriff’s Office Launches Social Media Campaign to Recruit High School Graduates
The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office is launching a new social media recruitment campaign on Facebook and Instagram to reach high school graduates interested in jump starting their career in law enforcement.
Earlier this year, the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office aligned with the military’s hiring age of 18 years old. Shortly after that announcement, the Sheriff’s Office won a Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services grant to create a new recruitment video and social media ads to reach teens and young adults.
According to a Pew Research 2018 report, 95% of teens now report they have a smartphone or access to one, and nearly half of them said they are online on a near-constant basis. The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office has adjusted its recruitment strategy to fit that trend.
On the heels of the law enforcement lip sync challenge, the new recruitment video incorporates a sense of humor, while showing the responsibility of serving the community with the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office values.
The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office is a values-driven team committed to public safety, public service, and public trust. Our motto is to serve in the spirit of the Golden Rule: treat others the way we wish to be treated. Our team strives to have integrity in all things, respect for others, duty without prejudice, pride without ego, and team before self.
The deputy sheriff position includes full benefits, and the starting salary is $33,637, which increases to $35,118 after academy graduation. Interested candidates can learn more and apply online by visiting the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office website.
