Norfolk Sheriff’s Office Celebrates 72nd Session Academy Graduation

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 6 p.m., the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office will host the 72nd Session Academy Graduation Ceremony at the Harrison Opera House.  Since July,  11 recruits have worked hard and successfully completed rigorous training, practical scenarios, and written tests. Nine of the graduating recruits will become sworn deputies with the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office and two of the recruits will be sworn in as jailors with Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

The graduation ceremony will feature remarks from Sheriff Joseph Baron and guest speaker Brian C. Dugan, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Norfolk Field Office. The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will perform the presentation of colors and the National Anthem will be sung by Norfolk Sheriff’s Office Sgt. M. Mitchell. The deputies will be sworn in by the Clerk of Circuit Court, Honorable George E. Schaefer III.
