Deputy D. HillDeputy D. Hill was on her way to work when she stopped at a 7 Eleven on Tidewater Dr. While she was inside the store, a teenager wearing tattered clothing approached her. The teen said that he had been assaulted by gang members, and that they also murdered his parents. Deputy Hill gathered as much information from him as possible, including his name and where he attended school. She called police, and dispatchers told her that the young man was an autistic runaway. Officers asked Deputy Hill to do the best she could to keep the teen at the store until units arrived. She kept him calm, and gave him a soda that she originally bought for herself. When police arrived, they were able to take the teen home safely. Thanks to Deputy Hill’s instincts and communication skills, a young man was reunited with his family.
