Norfolk Sheriff's Office Holds Vaccine Clinic

On Saturday, May 22, 2021, the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with FEMA the Army National Guard, and the Virginia Department of Health, hosted a vaccine clinic for offenders and NSO employees who wanted to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The clinic was held in the gymnasium of the Norfolk City Jail from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Participants were able to choose between either the Johnson & Johnson or the Pfizer vaccine. In all, 233 offenders and eight additional Norfolk Sheriff’s Office employees* received the vaccine.

“I am thankful for the partnership between the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office, FEMA, the Army National Guard, and the Virginia Department of Health which helped make Saturday’s event possible. Letting offenders have the option to receive the vaccine helps make our facility safer and helps them to be safe when they return to society. The event was a success due to the hard work of our staff and everyone who was involved,” stated Colonel Mike O’Toole.
