pink patch project 16x9Throughout the Norfolk Sheriff's Office, it is safe to say that every employee knows someone courageously undergoing cancer treatment or is undergoing a fight against cancer themselves. As a team, we've supported our co-workers who've been diagnosed with this life-altering illness, and sadly, we've even had to lay to rest some of our own who's lives were taken too soon.

Lives may be lost, but cancer never wins. NSO Lieutenant Felicia Morgan wants to make everyone aware of that.

As a breast cancer survivor herself, Lieutenant Morgan has decided to participate in the Pink Patch Project.

HR Hero Games logoWe are pleased to announce that the 2017 Hampton Roads Hero Games will be held October 20-29, 2017. The Hero Games is an event where first responders from all across Hampton Roads get together to compete in three days worth of sporting events created to spark a little friendly competition among different departments. The winning departments (overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) win money to donate to the charity of their choice.

As you may have heard, the Norfolk Sheriff's Office placed first overall in last year's Hero Games, and we are ready to defend our title again in 2017!

Sheriff Baron 16x9All Staff:

August 1 marked 6 months since I took my oath as Sheriff for the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office. During that time I have made it my personal goal to ensure every one of you feel valued as employees. It’s easier to believe in yourself if you feel that others believe in you too.

We created a new ribbon and certificate to recognize our military veterans, I personally deliver service certificates, and we had our annual staff cook outs. Additionally, we have made changes in policies to meet the wishes of our employees about uniforms, counts, and other concerns. Further, we pushed the city to recognize our pay levels are not competitive. In response, the city allocated bonuses for all of our employees and provided raises that will take effect in January. This is the first step towards their commitment to getting us to a competitive salary. All of these changes were an effort to provide positive feedback to benefit our employees. It is motivating to know that your efforts are seen and your work is valuable.
