NSO Honors Longest Serving Employee for 40 Years of Service

On Thursday, December 15, the Norfolk Sheriff's Office will proudly honor Master Deputy Calvin Armstrong for 40 consecutive years of dedicated service to the citizens of Norfolk.

Currently, Master Deputy Armstrong is the longest serving employee at the sheriff's office. Hired on December 7, 1976, he has worked under 3 sheriffs and has lived through many changes in law enforcement.

You may recognize Master Deputy Armstrong if you frequent the new consolidated court building, as he is a bailiff for civil matters.

"It's not often these days that employers can retain employees for decades," Norfolk Sheriff Bob McCabe said. "I'm truly honored to have Master Deputy Armstrong serving the organization and the community at large."

The courts and judicial staff will host a luncheon for Master Deputy Armstrong beginning at 12:30 p.m. A presentation from Sheriff McCabe will follow shortly after.

Among his coworkers, his nephew, Kenny Easley, will also be in attendance. Easley is a former college (UCLA) and professional (Seattle Seahawks) football player who's many accolades include being named NFL Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press, being a four-time All-Pro selection, and playing in the Pro Bowl five times. Most recently, he's been announced as a Senior Finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2017.
