A public-private partnership of good will, complete with 150 turkeys will be distributed to Norfolk families and shelters in time for a Thanksgiving feast.

The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office, a local businessman and a branch of a local federal credit union have teamed up to deliver Thanksgiving baskets and blessings to Norfolk families in need.  Businessman Matt Hales of Gateway Ventures, Inc., a Norfolk defense contractor, purchased the turkeys, PortAlliance Federal Credit Union provided the insulated, insignia bags and Norfolk Sheriff’s Office employees filled the bags with stuffing, green beans, corn bread, canned collard greens and macaroni and cheese.  It’s the fifth year Hales partnered with the NSO for the Thanksgiving basket delivery and it’s the first year of a dual holiday delivery for PortAlliance which will also team with the NSO for another turkey delivery at Christmas.

Norfolk Sheriff Bob McCabe is grateful for the partnerships and said, “An abundance of good will mean a brighter Thanksgiving Day for Norfolk families.   Norfolk seniors, children and families will experience the generosity of our employees and caring members of our community,” McCabe added.

The Thanksgiving baskets will be delivered by the NSO’s Civil Process division as well as other office volunteers.
